Hi again

I really want to get back into the habit of writing every day only so I can look back on this and be able to know what was going on with my kids during these days (and to also complete the baby books for them).

My little guy is now 20 months. In just a couple weeks, he will be the same age that Ben & Ella were when Nicholas entered our lives. I just look at Nicholas and think - wow, how did I do it with 2 20 month olds and an infant. I have no idea.

Anyway, Nicholas is a speed runner these days. Seriously, his little legs move so fast, they are a blur sometimes. He is saying a lot more words, but still saying a lot of things I have no clue as to what he is saying. This morning, when he woke up, he asked me "Where Ewa?" Ella wasn't in their room, but in ours as she fell out of her bed in the middle of the night and Jon brought her out to calm her down. Not a fun way to wake up!

Speaking of falling, I took all three kids with me to a Halloween party over the weekend that the multiples group has (Jon was at work). We stayed for a while but Ella & Benjamin kept wandering off and would scream because they couldn't find me and well, sometimes, I couldn't find them. Not fun. So we ended up going outside to play in the playground for a bit - and well, it was a bit wet. Nicholas was climbing up to the top and was on his way down when he slipped and fell down one step, then rolled onto the ground. I freaked! One of my worst fears coming true. I ran to the other side to where he was and he was crying (thank goodness). He didn't appear to be hurt and was acting normally so I didn't take him to the doctor (though I almost went back into the party with all three kids to find my friend who is a doctor to check him out - but she has 3 kids of her own and she was also on her own). He has been fine since, thankfully (Benjamin had a similar fall earlier this year when we were over in Spokane - that was not a fun time either). I swear with all the bumps and bruises Nicholas has gotten in the last few months that I would not be surprised if he is the child who breaks his arm or leg. I very much hope I'm wrong. He just wants to keep up with his siblings so bad. You can tell how much he loves it when they include him on something (including putting stickers all over the wall near Benjamin's bed).

The next morning, I went to go get him and he had blood all over his sheet. He had a bloody nose and it had dried on his face and all in one corner of the bed. OMG - because of the prior day's events, I freaked out and yelled for Jon. He might have gotten the bloody nose because it was so dry in the house or because of the fall the prior day, I don't know. Either way, he is fine now.

Hmm, what else?

Oh, my husband turned 40 this month. I took the kids with me one night to pick out a birthday present for him. I asked them what he wanted. Benjamin said a car and Ella said a princess. I wonder what they want? Hmmm.

Nicholas is our class clown in the family. He always seems to want to make the twins laugh (maybe so they will think he is super cool). Making funny noises and even one time, saying No to the twins like I had just said to them. He likes to yell at the kitties sometimes too and tell them no on things they are allowed to do - like scratch on their kitty tower.

I'm beginning to wonder if the thing that Benjamin will do when he gets older involves either music or taking things apart. He always likes listening to music and he likes to take apart things and put them back together (though that could be just a normal kid thing). Benjamin is definitely one that will observe things and then do them. The preschool teacher told him to write the letter B and at first, he asked her to do it, but she said you can do it. He wrote it and was very proud of himself. They are teaching him to write his own name.

Ella is definitely more into drawing and coloring. She will write her name no problem. She will write it over everything. She loves to wear dresses so thankfully, I found some long sleeve dresses that she can wear with some leggings. So cute. We bought her some Hello Kitty boots last night - I'll have to take a picture and show a friend of mine who loves Hello Kitty.

Oh, we went to the Pumpkin Patch with my parents and friends the other weekend. There, they had a hay maze for the kids (and a corn maze in the shape of Washington that my brother did - someday, I will do that maze). They both loved the maze, but Benjamin was definitely liking the slide more than Ella. Ella needed assistance to go down the slide whereas Benjamin did it all on his own. They also went on a cow tractor ride - a tractor pulled some barrels that were painted black and white. Nicholas HATED it as did our friend's 1 year old, but Ben & Ella seemed to enjoy it.

We are still potty training. They both have no problem with #1, but #2 is a different issue. I have told them that when we run out, that is it, no more, but I wonder if that is the right thing to do. I need help or advice. I feel like I have the most stubborn children and I've been told this is how they act when they are teenagers - oh joy!

Alright, back to work. Lunch break over.
