Another update

yeah, I do mean to blog more, but it's always the last thing I want to do these days. I really need to so I can remember when things happen to write later in my baby books at home.

Benjamin & Ella like to say something that sounds like "upanddown". I'm not sure if they are really saying up and down or something else as I'm not sure what they are talking about when they say it. They also like to say "wee down" - that, we figured out, is what they call the playground because we always say to them "do you want to go wee down the slide?" It took us a bit to figure out what they were saying.

Benjamin's new thing to do these days is say "come" to Ella or myself or Jon when he wants something. The other day, he said this to Ella so she would come outside and play with him. It's quite cute. He's also very good about knowing his colors (most of them) and he's figured out some letters too.

Ella is starting to know more colors and letters too, but she seems to be more interested in climbing and learning how to be the best mommy ever to her baby doll and to Nicholas.

It is really cute when they say to us "I want juice". And funny that one set of blocks is the "mommy blocks" and the other is the "papa blocks".

Nicholas is starting to push himself up onto his knees and sometimes on his feet with his butt in the air. He will scoot himself all around in his bed and on the floor too. He has a very, very cute laugh. He also has been copying me when I blow raspberries - he finds that pretty funny. And the little guy knows how to roll over from his belly to his back, but he seems to think he doesn't and will cry and fuss if someone doesn't come pick him up or flip him over if he's on his belly longer than he's like. He flips over from his back to his belly all the time.

well, that's all for now. I have every intention of writing on a more regular basis, but I probably won't.

Bedtime is party time...to the twins

Lately, Ben & Ella think that nap time or bedtime is time to get up and play and run around (including run around holding each other's hands - this is rather cute). Needless to say, this has been very frustrating. Without a nap, they get cranky and with not going to sleep when they should, they wake up later and sometimes cranky. I'm not sure what to do in order to get them to lie down and go to sleep - if anyone has any ideas, let me know. At this point, I'm thinking we may need to separate them - which means we need to move our bedroom elsewhere and that means cleaning out that room.

yesterday, in an effort to get them to take a nap - I put them in the car and drove them around for an hour. I can't do that all the time. After we drove for an hour, I took them to Cos&tco to pick up another fan (and, of course, as soon as I do so, the weather turns cooler). I thought maybe they would like a fan in their room to cool it down and I also got them pillows thinking they would want to sleep in their bed if they had a pillow with a cool Charlie Brown pillowcases that, I think, was my mom's when she was younger. Nope - that didn't work at all. I think I need to go do some googling to see if I can find an answer. I know in one of the multiples groups I'm in, this topic came out and I ignored it, but I think I'll need to go find that thread and read it now!

2 year birthday party

We had Ben & Ella's birthday party on June 20 at a nearby park that they love to play at. See pics of the party at www.flickr.com/photos/heathercim.

They played in the playground for a bit until it was time to eat. They didn't want to go eat, but I did, so we went and got some food. We chatted with friends and family while we ate. Later on, we sat down and opened some presents. Benjamin opened his first present, then Ella. When it was Benjamin's turn to open his 2nd present, he wanted me to get the stuff out of the first one! He started to cry because of it. Luckily, a friend of ours offered to get the stuff out and Benjamin was sorta happy with that and opened up other things.

After presents, we had a huge cupcake. The twins pretty much just ate the frosting.

Luckily, the day was nice. I was worried because it was raining quite a bit the previous day.

A couple of the presents that they got were for warm weather - over the past week, it was nice so we got them out. They were a couple things that you hook up to a hose and water comes spraying out. Ben & Ella were not so sure about these things and Ella freaked out when she got sprayed by some water. Hopefully, we can interest them in it by running in the water ourselves to show them it's o.k. However, Ella HATES it when we rinse her hair in the bath, so I don't know if that will help. We'll see. Benjamin might like it.

Anyway, it was a good day and we enjoyed seeing everyone there!

4 Months

Nicholas is now 4 months old as of last Thursday. My little guy likes to coo and tell lots of stories. He smiles a lot. He's learned to roll over from his back to his tummy and last night, he actually slept on his tummy for a little while. I figured he knows how to roll over from his tummy to his back and can lift his head around, so he should be o.k.

He's been enjoying sitting in the bumbo and playing with his toys that I put on a little tray for him or the toys dangling from the playmat. However, when he gets bored, he likes to push up and it seems almost get out of the bumbo. And it's cute because when he's lying down, he tries to sit up.

Jon put him in the exercauser the other day and he seemed to enjoy it.

He has the cutest little laugh too. I had him doing a little dance and singing a song and he was just laughing so much. It was so cute!
